A focus on fatigue

Many of my patients talk about fatigue regardless of what they are coming to see me about.

The obvious offenders are too much work, or being too busy and not managing enough exercise.

We also need to consider underlying patterns, nutritonal deficiencies, detoxification, sleep quality - are you devastatingly tired at 3pm, or is your problem getting out of bed in the morning?

Always consider what and how you eat. If you are tired, it seems obvious to use stimulants like sugar and coffee to ‘keep going’, however they ultimately overextend an already tired system, which leads to increased symptoms. Whilst initially it is difficult to reduce our intake of sweet biscuits, coffee and chocolate (always do this slowly), supporting the diet by consuming slow release, energy giving and nutritiously dense protein regularly will help to balance blood sugar levels. This will in turn improve mood, help with weight loss and certainly improve energy. Google hypoglycaemic diets or contact the clinic for more information.

Women will also need to assess iron and other nutrient deficiencies as this may be the background problem to fatigue that won’t shift.

Men may find that detox may give a huge kickstart to improve fatigue.

There are many very attainable treatment options to help change the cycle of fatigue. You may require specifically focused lifestye shifts, effective treatment for sleep problems, or a whole body assessment and overhaul.

Don’t delay - winter is on its way and you can feel great even with the challenges this presents.
